World Sevens Series, is a series of international rugby sevens tournaments organised for the first time in the 1999-2000 season. The tournaments, run by the International Rugby Board (IRB), feature national sevens teams. Rugby sevens, also known as seven-a-side, is a variant of rugby, in which teams are made up of seven players, instead of the usual 15, with shorter matches.
